United Way Day of Caring: Serving Our Community

On Saturday, November 2nd, Community Resource Credit Union (CRCU) partnered with Hearts & Hands to host our Annual Day of Caring. This meaningful event brought together CRCU employees, members, and community volunteers to support two impactful projects designed to uplift vulnerable populations in our community.

First Project: Doorstep Blessing – A Healthier Tomorrow Begins Today

Doorstep Blessing is a delivery-style program that addresses the barriers low-income seniors, disabled individuals, and those facing transportation challenges encounter in accessing healthy, nutritious food. Operating in and around food deserts, the program ensures that vital resources reach those who need them most.

Together with our community partners, we provided not just food but also opportunities for socialization, nutrition education, and access to valuable social services. This holistic approach feeds both the body and soul, fostering dignity and connection for our patrons. By participating in this project, volunteers directly contributed to the building blocks of a healthier, stronger community.

Second Project: Day Bags for the Homeless – Showing Love Through Action

Our second initiative focused on bringing hope to our homeless neighbors. With the help of donations from the community, we packed gallon-sized day bags filled with pop-top canned goods, water, snacks, and a message of love and care. These small yet impactful bags were a reminder to those experiencing homelessness that they are not forgotten.

Volunteers of all ages came together to assemble the bags, creating a powerful sense of purpose and unity. The simple act of packing these essentials was a step toward showing compassion and making a tangible difference in the lives of others.
